Thank you for your support and donations in yesterday’s ‘Pinoyville Open Mic: Typhoon Sendong Relief Drive’! We will continue to accept donations throughout our Open Mic nights, so please come by and help our kababayans during this difficult holiday season. All donations will be sent to organizations involved in the relief efforts surrounding Cagayan de Oro and Illigan.

On December 17th, 2011 Typhoon Sendong (Washi) triggered landslides and flash floods on areas surrounding Cagayan de Oro and Illigan in Mindanao. The typhoon has produced upwards of a thousand casualties, and countless missing in what is being called a natural disaster. As a result, international relief operations are underway to provide aid to disaster-stricken families who have been rendered homeless and left scrambling to attend to their daily necessities.
The Kapit Bisig Center is imploring members of the Montreal community to support victims of Typhoon Sendong (Washi). Although this tragedy struck thousands of miles away, members of Montreal’s Filipino community have families who are directly impacted by the landslides and flash floods. Given the immediate need for relief, the Kapit Bisig Center is organizing monetary support for victims of Typhoon Sendong (Washi). Please join us in the Typhoon Sendong Relief Drive to be held during our weekly ‘Pinoyville Open Mic’ where we will be accepting donations which will be directly sent to organizations supporting relief efforts in Mindanao.
